Homage to George Orwell. Original framed pen and ink wash drawing artwork, ready to hang. Hand crafted featuring George Orwell, an English novelist and essayist. The drawing is made with ink and staedtler pigment liner pens on Bristol paper.
The is a pen and ink wash drawing to celebrate George Orwell’s dystopian publication of 1984 which was first published 70 years ago. The drawing is made with bistre ink, a dark brownish grey brown colour, and staedtler pigment liner pens. I am drawn to the medium because of the precision it gives. Made with Bristol paper. I was inspired by Orwell’s writing and ideas about society. He portrayed a surveillance society and a society’s increasing encroachment on the rights of the individual, is something we hear today - Orwellian. His ideas still resonate today.
