Silverpoint drawing of Shuntaro Tanikawa is a Japanese Poet. I was inspired me after reading his poem ‘Goodbye is a Temporary Word’ by Shuntaro Tanikawa to make this drawing.
Silverpoint is a medium first usesd in the 16th century, before graphite pencil had been invented. This drawing is made with a piece of silver, on specially prepared paper. All hanging hardware is supplied.
Silverpoint is used for drawing delicate images. The beauty of using silver is that as the drawing ages, the metal tarnishes and the lines change from the initial soft silver grey to a sepia appearance. Its strokes, which are pale gray, oxidizes into brown and adheres permanently.
